ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi on Thursday told a senior military official from Jordan that Pakistan attached great significance to its ties with his country and wanted to maintain mutually beneficial cooperation with it in all areas of interest.
Talking to the visiting chairman of the joint chiefs of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Major General Yousef Ahmed Al Huneiti, the president said the two countries enjoyed excellent relations that were based on common faith, cultural affinities and shared perceptions of regional and international issues.
Alvi conferred the Crescent of Excellence award on the Jordanian military official in recognition of his efforts to promote defense cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries at a special investiture ceremony at the Presidency.
The Jordanian official also held separate meetings with Pakistan’s naval and air chiefs.
He laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial during his visit to the naval headquarters and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts and commitment to support the collaborative maritime security in the region.
Major General Al Huneiti was also assured full support in the fields of aviation and training by the Pakistani air chief after he lauded the professional excellence of Pakistan Air Force.
The armed forces officials of the two countries pledged to further strengthen and diversify the scope of existing bilateral defense relationship.
