DUBAI: One third of respondents to an Arab News social media poll say they believe Bahrain will follow the UAE in normalizing relations with Israel.
The Twitter Poll received 2,036 votes, over two days, with 35.3 percent saying Bahrain was the most likely to make the move after the UAE’s historic US-brokered deal with Israel on Aug. 16, 2020.
At the time, while there were some inevitable critics of the deal, the announcement was largely welcomed around the globe with many countries saying the agreement was a significant step towards peace in the Middle East.

In the days that followed various meetings were held with further thawing of relations between the two.
Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan said the Kingdom would adhere to the Arab Peace Plan in its relations with Israel, adding that peace needed to be achieved with the Palestinians for any alteration in ties to be achieved.
“Once that is achieved all things are possible,” the prince added.
The Arab News poll saw 22.4 percent say they believed Oman would be the next country to normalize relations with Israel, while 18.8 percent suggested it would be Qatar and 23.5 percent said they did not believe any of the three countries would be the next to follow suit.
