Pakistani FM assures Saudi counterpart of support to defend kingdom's territorial integrity

  • The ministers discussed the upcoming UN General Assembly and agreed to continue bilateral consultations
  • Qureshi conveyed prayers and best wishes for King Salman’s swift recovery after recent surgery

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Sunday assured his Saudi counterpart of Pakistan’s support to safeguard the territorial integrity of the kingdom amid recent Houthi attacks, the Foreign Office said in a statement.
Citing the minister’s telephonic conversation with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, the Foreign Office said he had condemned the recent missile attacks by Houthi militias on Saudi defense installations and “expressed solidarity with the Saudi government and people on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan.” 
The foreign minister said Pakistan “will continue to extend all possible cooperation to safeguard the territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.” 
On behalf of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the statement read, Qureshi inquired about the health of King Salman who recently underwent gallbladder surgery. He conveyed prayers and best wishes for the king’s swift recovery.
The two ministers also discussed the upcoming UN General Assembly and agreed to continue consultations on important regional and bilateral issues.
