Number of coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia rises above 1,100

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia announced 92 new cases of coronavirus on Friday, meaning the total number in the Kingdom has reached more than 1,100.

Of the 1,104 total cases, there have been 35 recoveries and three mortalities in Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Health said.

King Salman chaired an extraordinary virtual summit with G20 leaders on Thursday to coordinate the global response to the virus pandemic.

The king also extended a curfew in effect in Saudi Arabia’s cities of Riyadh, Makkah and Madinah to run from 3 p.m. Movement across the Kingdom was banned from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m earlier this week.

RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al-Busaidi in Riyadh on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the strong fraternal relations between Saudi Arabia and Oman and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation across various fields.

They also exchanged views on recent regional developments and stressed the importance of continued efforts to promote security and stability in the region.
