RIYADH: Bahrain’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Sheikh Hamoud bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa on Monday called on Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Riyadh on Monday. During the meeting they reviewed bilateral ties and discussed the latest regional and international issues. Ties between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are deep-rooted and the two countries have a long and common history of civilization.
Bahrain is linked with the Kingdom’s Eastern Province through the King Fahd Causeway. The causeway connecting the two countries was opened in November 1986, and has contributed to expanding their commercial exchanges. During the mid-year school leave, Bahrain becomes the top destination for people in Saudi Arabia, especially the Eastern Province.
On Jan. 13, the causeway recorded the highest number of travelers since its opening, with 131,000 people crossing in one day.
The previous highest number was 129,437 passengers.
