Prince Abdul Aziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, chairman of the General Sports Authority, has been appointed as the president of the Arab Football Federation.

The decision came at the federation’s 25th meeting held in Jeddah on Monday. Prince Abdul Aziz has been appointed the federation’s chief for four years. He pledged to work for the  development an integrated system to promote sports in the region.

Born on Jan. 4, 1983, Prince Abdul Aziz is an athlete and a talented entrepreneur. He spent most of his childhood in Europe, where he pursued an active lifestyle and was introduced to motorsports at an early age. Prior to his appointment as the chairman of the General Sports Authority, Prince Abdul Aziz served as the vice chairman of the authority. He attained his bachelor’s degree in politics from King Saud University in 2003 then went on to obtain a degree in politics at School of Oriental and African Studies, the University of London in 2006. 

He also studied marketing at the College of Business Administration in Jeddah from 2006 to 2010. Additionally, he graduated from the Formula BMW School in Bahrain in 2005. 

Prince Abdul Aziz has participated in many motor racing events and won various titles including the Porsche GT3 Championship in 2012 (he came in first), the Toyo Tires Cup in Dubai (first place), Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East, Formula BMW Bahrain, ADAC GT Masters Round, Porsche GT3 CCME (which he won 9 times), Radical Masters AUH round (where he came in second), 24H Dubai race, 24H Series.

He also participated in the Gulf Race12 Hours twice, coming in first place in 2014 and second place in 2015.  He also succeeded outside the Middle East. In 2011, he won the first race in the FIA GT3 in Portugal.

He is also known as the first Saudi to have participated in a GT3 European championship race. He won the championship.

RIYADH: The Deanship of the Common First Year at King Saud University took part in the 45th Annual Conference on the First-Year Experience, held in Seattle, US.

This year’s edition focused on students’ academic and social transitions, guided advising, retention strategies and enhancing student engagement, in addition to showcasing successful institutional models for building sustainable transitional pathways.

The university’s participation aligns with a strategic direction that positions the first-year experience as a cornerstone of the quality of university outcomes.

During the scientific sessions and workshops, the dean delivered remarks highlighting the importance of intentionally designing the first-year student experience, emphasizing that academic support and advising programs should not be viewed as parallel services, but rather as an integral part of the educational experience’s structure.

He also reviewed models of the deanship’s initiatives to support new students, including early follow-up mechanisms and academic and skills development programs aimed at fostering university readiness from the first weeks of study.

The deanship said that its participation in the international conference aligns with a strategic direction to strengthen King Saud University’s institutional presence on specialized academic platforms and to leverage global expertise to develop policies and practices that support new students.
