muvi Cinemas opens its doors to audiences in Jeddah

  • The first audio and visual experience of its kind in the Kingdom

JEDDAH: “muvi Cinemas”, the first nationally owned and operated cinema in Saudi Arabia, opened its doors on Saturday and welcomed its first audiences at Mall of Arabia in Jeddah. 

This Saudi cinema is operated by Next Generation Company and is filled with outstanding Saudi talents. 

Saudi Media Minister Turki bin Abdullah Al-Shabanah inaugurated the first branch of the cinema chain at the Mall of Arabia in Jeddah on August 6, 2019.

The first muvi Cinema in Jeddah accommodates 1,950 guests in 15 screens and offers 21 seats for audiences with special needs.

Muvi offers many first-of-its-kind experiences in the Kingdom, including the use of Barco’s high-resolution laser projectors to offer the ultimate visual quality on the largest screen in the Kingdom, as well as the use of the first Dolby Atmos surround system in the Kingdom for the best-in-class audio experience for blockbusters. These technologies can be enjoyed at the Xperience screen, which also offers seats with smartphone chargers and extended legroom.

Another new experience for audiences can be enjoyed at ScreenX, which offers a truly immersive blockbuster experience for those who do not want to just watch a film, as several multi projectors work in tandem to project a realistic panoramic image on the main screen and on the side walls simultaneously, so that audience feel as if they are right the movie.

For those looking for the ultimate luxury cinema experience, Muvi Suites offers a special experience with the best amenities, audio and visual experiences and a private lounge. These suites feature luxurious, fully-motorized reclining leather chairs with footrest to sit back and relax. The most-luxurious suites are designed to ensure uninterrupted viewing pleasure on the large screen. 

Audiences can meet their family and friends at the exclusive private lounge for snacks before the movie starts or have their meals in the comfortable chairs with sliding tables. Muvi Suites accommodates 102 guests in 3 screens.

Muvi will soon launch the Junior screen, in which children enter a special entertainment room to express their creative ideas and drawings, dive into the safe ball pit and then enter the main screen through a special “slide” to watch their movie. 

Encouraged by Muvi for their innovations, their drawings will be displayed on the big screen before each show. Junior offers comfortable and colorful seating for children, with the possibility of hosting family events.

Muvi Cinemas’ management confirmed an expansion plan to launch 250 new screens across the Kingdom within 24 months to offer unique and exclusive experiences for all guests, and recruit and train more local talents.

Sulaiman Al-Rajhi Endowment projects worth SR8bn launched in Makkah

Sulaiman Al-Rajhi Real Estate Company has announced the launch of several real estate projects belonging to the Sulaiman Al-Rajhi Endowment system in Makkah, with a total investment exceeding SR8 billion ($2.1 billion). These projects include commercial, residential, and hospitality developments, as well as strategic land plots, as part of the company’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s real estate sector and enhancing the quality of life in the holy city.

The announcement was made during a field tour by a delegation of high-level officials including Saleh Al-Rasheed, CEO of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites; Ihsan Bafakih, chairman of the board of directors of Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Rajhi Holding Company; Haitham Al-Fayez, chairman of Sulaiman Al-Rajhi Real Estate Company and CEO of Sulaiman Al-Rajhi Holding Company; Moath Al-Mukhudub, managing director and CEO of Sulaiman Al-Rajhi Real Estate Company; and Anas Mansour Abadi, CEO of real estate at Sulaiman Al-Rajhi Holding Company and representative of the Sulaiman Al-Rajhi Endowment, alongside members of the board of directors of both the holding and real estate companies and the executive team.

The tour included the launch of the Tilal Towers project, with an investment value of SR2 billion, featuring more than 2,500 hotel rooms, strengthening the hospitality sector in Makkah.

The delegation also visited the Tilal Village project, valued at SR2.8 billion. It is one of the prominent qualitative projects within the hospitality ecosystem in Makkah.

Furthermore, the visit covered the residential buildings within Tilal Village, comprising 828 units, with an investment of SR800 million. The delegation inspected the specialized hospital, medical complex housing, and the office and commercial plazas.

During the tour, a contract was signed for the Al-Rajhi Center project, valued at SR250 million, as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan.

The inspection also included the Al-Ukayshiyyah land, spanning 4 million square meters, and the Al-Ghazzawi project land, valued at SR250 million.

The tour concluded with prayers at the Aisha Al-Rajhi Mosque, the second-largest mosque in Makkah after the Grand Mosque, with a capacity for 50,000 worshippers.

This visit underscores the importance of these investments, which represent a clear direction toward enhancing the management of the endowment’s assets through diversification, redevelopment, and strategic expansion, in line with the development goals of the Makkah city and Saudi Vision 2030.
