Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon received by minister in Beirut, discusses regional developments

  • Saudi Arabia earlier this year released $1 billion in funding, pledging to boost Lebanon’s struggling economy

BEIRUT: Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Walid bin Abdullah Bukhari held a meeting with Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transportation Youssef Fenianos at his office in Beirut on Tuesday.
During the meeting, they discussed regional and global developments and issues of mutual interest.
At the time of Bukhari’s appointment as the envoy, he said: “We seek to create ambitious global partnerships and build strong international relations that are based on solid fundamentals, and we seek to achieve all this through a sustainable diplomacy based on human values to achieve security and international peace.”
Saudi Arabia and Lebanon enjoy cordial relations. The Kingdom earlier this year released $1 billion in funding, pledging to boost Lebanon’s struggling economy.
In January, the Kingdom vowed to provide “full assistance” to Lebanon to help its economy. “We are interested to see stability in Lebanon and we will support Lebanon all the way,” Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan told American broadcaster CNBC at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

Crown prince, US president discuss regional escalation in phone call

  • Trump expressed Washington's condemnation of the blatant missile attacks against the Kingdom
  • The crown prince also discussed the ongoing military escalation in a separate call with the president of Syria

RIYADH: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a telephone call on Saturday from US President Donald Trump, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

Trump expressed Washington's condemnation of the blatant missile attacks against the Kingdom, which were intercepted by the Kingdom's air defenses. 

He affirmed US support for the Kingdom and its backing of all measures taken by the Kingdom to confront these Iranian violations that undermine the security and stability of the region, SPA added.

In a separate call, Crown Prince Mohammed and Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa discussed the ongoing military escalation in the region.

Al-Sharaa affirmed his country’s support for and solidarity with the Kingdom, SPA said in another report. 

The Syrian president emphasized his country’s. rejection of any violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty or any threat to its security and stability.
