Pakistani envoy discusses bilateral ties with Al Jubeir

  • Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy close trade and strategic ties
  • The envoy also hinted at the release of prisoners from Saudi jails soon

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ejaz called on Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al Jubeir at his office in Riyadh, according to a statement released by Pakistan’s Consulate in Jeddah on Monday.

The two officials “discussed and reviewed bilateral affairs and matters of mutual interest,” during the meeting held a day earlier, the statement read.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have traditionally enjoyed close, multi-faceted ties, with the incumbent government working toward enhancing trade investment from the Kingdom.
Last week, Ambassador Ejaz had said that “good news” regarding the release of Pakistani prisoners from Saudi jails in the month of Ramadan was expected.
In February Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had ordered the release of about 2,100 Pakistani prisoners from the Saudi jails during a high-profile visit to Islamabad. The announcement came after a request by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan during the royal visit.
