Majid Al-Futtaim Cinemas, the cinema arm of Majid Al-Futtaim, launched on Sunday its third VOX Cinemas in Riyadh at The Roof in the capital’s Alyasmin District.
VOX Cinemas in The Roof combines world-class entertainment with a range of creative food and beverage options including a specialty Nutella bar, Pizza Al Taglio — a new concept serving freshly baked pizza slices and Kitchen 35 — a grab-and-go café serving coffees, juices, sandwiches, salads and pastries. This is in addition to the signature VOX Cinemas Candy Bar where guests can get their favorite cinema snacks.
The multiplex features eight screens including the family-friendly concept KIDS, which is designed especially for young movie fans, and has a total seating capacity of 553.
VOX Cinemas intend to open 110 screens by the end of 2019, and with this new launch, the company currently operates a total of 39 screens in the Kingdom, across Riyadh and Jeddah.
VOX Cinemas is the Middle East’s largest and most rapidly growing exhibitor, with 41 locations totaling 405 screens across the region, including almost 200 screens in the UAE, 15 screens in Lebanon, 47 screens in Oman, 30 screens in Bahrain, 28 screens in Egypt, 39 screens in Saudi Arabia and 17 screens in Kuwait.
Across the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt and Lebanon, the company is undergoing a 1.2 billion dirham ($326 million) investment to expand to operate 300 screens by 2020. In addition, Majid Al-Futtaim Cinemas will invest 1.96 billion dirhams to develop 600 screens across Saudi Arabia by 2022.

ALJ Motors champions Toyota SUVs’ off-road legacy

Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, the authorized distributor of Toyota vehicles in Saudi Arabia since 1955, has launched the second edition of its off-road initiative — an immersive driving experience designed to engage guests and showcase the real-world capabilities of Toyota’s SUV lineup in the Kingdom’s desert terrains. The activation takes place on weekends, starting initially in Riyadh and continuing through Jeddah, before concluding in Dammam on Jan. 24.
The multi-city activation is designed to engage guests through Toyota’s SUV lineup in fun and exciting ways, offering a hands-on opportunity to experience vehicle performance, control, and versatility. The lineup features a wide range of Toyota SUV models, including the Land Cruiser HEV Max, a hybrid vehicle built for performance. Beyond the off-road drives, the activation offers a welcoming weekend setting with supporting activities suitable for families and younger guests, creating a well-rounded experience for visitors of all ages.
Building on the success of its inaugural edition, which welcomed more than 4,500 participants and attracted over 10,000 attendees, the second edition continues to focus on meaningful guest engagement through interactive and experiential driving activities while emphasizing safety, trust, and enjoyment. Through this approach, ALJ Motors champions Toyota’s off-road legacy while creating an experience that further connects guests with Toyota’s renowned SUV lineup.
