Govt ends political censorship in state-run media: Minister

  • Government ended political censorship on PTV and issued clear instructions for a complete editorial independence, Information Minister said
  • Prime Minister Imran Khan in his first address to the nation this week promised major reforms

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s newly elected government has “lifted all political censorship in state-run media outlets,” Information Minister Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said on Tuesday.

“Clear instructions” have been issued for “complete editorial independence on PTV and Radio Pakistan,” he tweeted.
Hussain also urged the Information Ministry to play a proactive role in promoting a positive image of Pakistan internationally.
