RIYADH: The Spokesperson for Saudi-led Arab coalition forces in Yemen Col. Turki Al-Maliki said that work is in progress with the Yemeni government to r stabilize Hodeidah as soon as possible.
In statements to Al Arabiya News Channel, Wednesday, the spokesman said great developments will happen in Hodaidah when its airport is fully liberated.
Al-Maliki noted that the coalition is exploring all means to to persuade Iran backed Houthi militias to accept the political solution tabled by the UN.
Col. Turki also pointed that there are no human losses reported in the Hodiadah offensive to liberate the airport so far. However, Al-Maliki said Houthis are using civilians as human shields which is against international laws.
“Houthis are preventing civilians from leaving Hodeidah and are using them as human shields in the battle.”
Al-Maliki said the coalition has offered assurances to the international community that it will protect civilians, adding that the coalition has finalized plans to rehabilitate Hodeidah and its vital installations once the war is over.
