The Guardian report by Sune Engel Rasmussen and Mohsin Saleem Ullah in Islamabad states that health experts and activists in Pakistan have blamed technology, mobile apps and social media in particular, for rise in HIV infection as it gives gays and male sex workers a higher degree of freedom to connect with clients and partners. A rise of 17.6 percent compared to the international average of 2.2 percent has been observed in HIV cases in Pakistan over the decade of 2005-2015.
