Traffic deaths in Saudi Arabia decrease significantly

RIYADH: The Ministry of Transport has announced that there was a significant reduction in road accident deaths in October, despite the increase in the number of accidents compared with the average death rate recorded during the third quarter of this year (July, August and September).
The ministry revealed that there had been 1,864 road accident deaths since the start of the year until the end of October.
While the number of injuries decreased compared to September, it was still high compared with the average in July and August.
In its monthly report on traffic accidents in October, the ministry revealed an increase in the number of accidents during the past month to 1,308 incidents, compared to 1,150 accidents during the previous month.
The death toll on highways since the start of the year until the end of October was 426.
The reduction in accident deaths coincides with initiatives by the Ministry of Transport to raise the level of road safety and reduce the number of deaths from road accidents by 25 percent by 2020.
The ministry has launched the “Our destination ... Your destination” campaign to reduce road deaths with the support of all concerned bodies and in cooperation with a number of companies.
