Asian Film Festival in Jeddah concludes with light-hearted Indonesian drama

JEDDAH: The Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah on Friday hosted the closing night of the 10th Asian Film Festival.
The closing night of this annual event, which is organized by the Asian Consuls General Club (ACGC), was attended by more than 300 guests, including local dignitaries.
It started with an Indonesian traditional dance, the screening of a documentary on tourism to Indonesia, followed by the Indonesian movie “Rudy Habibie,” a light-hearted drama.
“The Asian Film Festival is aimed not only to introduce film … from thirteen Asian countries … but also to showcase culture and values practiced in the respective countries … By knowing other cultures and values, we can enrich our views and perspectives, and (the) mutual understanding among us can be strengthened,” said Indonesian Consul General Mohamad Hery Saripudin.
The festival featured 10 movies from Pakistan, Korea, China, India, Philippines, Bangladesh, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Hail Municipality intensifies food inspections

RIYADH: The Hail Municipality has intensified its field inspections of food establishments and commercial markets throughout the city during Ramadan to enhance food safety, raise compliance with health and municipal regulations, and protect consumers.

The municipality said that inspection teams conducted intensive tours covering markets, shops, restaurants, bakeries, sweet shops, and food warehouses, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

These visits verify that employees possess valid health certificates, wear the required uniforms, and adhere to strict personal hygiene standards.

Additionally, inspections were carried out at 10 sites designated for iftar meals in several neighborhoods and public squares to ensure compliance with public hygiene standards, safe storage practices, and product validity.

The municipality said that several offenses were recorded during the inspections, with legal measures taken against the offenders in accordance with regulations.

It emphasized that these monitoring campaigns will continue throughout Ramadan under an operational plan that includes increasing the number of field teams and expanding the scope of coverage.
