In a recent nationwide survey conducted in the UK, parents showed their frustration that junk food is available near supermarket checkouts, tempting their kids. The Junk-Free Checkouts campaign, announced by the British Dietetic Association and the Children’s Food Campaign, is being launched with full force in the UK, aimed at compelling supermarkets to stop selling sweets near counters. This is a global tactic to entice kids, so a similar campaign should be adopted in every country.
