LONDON: Indonesian President Joko Widodo met Emirati Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al-Mazrouei in Yogyakarta on Sunday, Emirates News Agency reported.
The meeting was part of a high-level UAE delegation visit to the country, and was attended by the UAE’s ambassador to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem Obaid Salem Al- Dhaheri.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in various fields.
Widodo expressed his appreciation for Al-Mazrouei’s visit and highlighted Indonesia’s interest in boosting strategic ties with the UAE.
The Indonesian leader and Al-Mazrouei also attended a ceremony to inaugurate the Mohammed bin Zayed College of Future Studies in Yogyakarta. The college is a collaboration between the Mohammed Bin Zayed University for Humanities in Abu Dhabi and the Nahdlatul Ulama society in Indonesia.
The Emirati delegation also visited the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, during their trip, and met several Indonesian ministers.
Talks focused on the latest developments in joint investment projects, as well as new opportunities in sectors of interest.
Al-Mazrouei also presided over an Emirati-Indonesian roundtable meeting, which included several CEOs and private sector representatives from both countries.
The Emirati minister also met Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin to discuss ways to strengthen economic ties through halal products.
