AMMAN: Ahmed Safadi, speaker of Jordan’s House of Representatives — the lower house of parliament — met with Malaysian Ambassador Mohamad Nasri Abdul Rahman on Tuesday to discuss boosting parliamentary collaboration, Jordan News Agency reported.

They emphasized the significance of strengthening economic and investment ties between their two countries.

They also underscored a shared commitment to halting Israel’s war on Gaza, providing urgent humanitarian relief to the enclave’s residents, and advocating for a two-state solution that safeguards Palestinian rights.

Israel has killed at least 25,490 Palestinians, mostly women and children, since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, according Gaza’s Health Ministry.

On Monday, Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi attended a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, where discussions focused on the Gaza conflict. 

He stressed the importance of an immediate and long-term ceasefire, and providing consistent and sustainable humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza.

The high-level meeting also included the Saudi and Egyptian foreign ministers.
