SUBWAY Saudi Arabia celebrated exceeding 100 stores at a special ceremony held with the support of Prince Nawaf bin Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Saud, chairman of Shamel Food Company Ltd., in Riyadh.
Mohsen Adeeb, CEO of Shamel Food Company Ltd., Master Franchisee of SUBWAY in KSA, said the first SUBWAY restaurant in the Kingdom opened in Riyadh in January 1993. “Despite the difficulties and challenges the project faced in its early stages, we have managed to expand and open new branches owned by Shamel Food Company, and granting sub-franchisee rights all over the Kingdom.
Adeeb added: “SUBWAY restaurants’ mission, from day one, was to provide a new concept of fast-food to the customers who were seeking better alternatives of high international fresh food quality that have many low fat choices, prepared from the best ingredients according to customers’ requests.”
Also, our actual plan is to increase the number of restaurants to 200 by the end of year 2020, but in order to achieve this objective, we continue with our efforts to promote better quality products. In this regard, we support the SUBWAY international initiatives in developing a clean label and producing healthier products by reducing sugar and sodium content, and eliminating food preservatives and artificial colors in all of its products within the next five years.
Since SUBWAY KSA Team realizes its social responsibility in the Kingdom, Prince Nawaf bin Mohammed gave donations — during the ceremony — to Disabled Child Association and Zahra Breast Cancer Association, amounting to SR200,000 each, on behalf of all SUBWAY KSA team to support their programs.
Also, during the ceremony, Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf Al-Saud, member of the Shamel Food Company board of directors, presented exceptional performance awards to SUBWAY Franchisees, strategic partners and company employees on behalf of Shamel Food Company.
