RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul All Share Index slipped for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, as it shed 54.45 points, or 0.44 percent, to close at 12,197.61. 

The total trading turnover of the benchmark index was SR9.16 billion ($2.44 billion), as 94 stocks advanced while 132 declined.

The Kingdom’s parallel market Nomu gained 96.35 points to close at 24,798.17, while the MSCI Tadawul Index dipped by 0.34 percent to 1,584.37.

Saudi Arabia’s media conglomerate MBC Group, which started trading on Tadawul on Jan. 8, was the best performer of the day. The share price of the media giant surged by 30 percent on Tuesday to close at SR42.25.

Other top performers on the main market were CHUBB Arabia Cooperative Insurance Co. and Saudi Arabian Amiantit Co. whose share price soared by 9.89 percent and 9.08 percent, respectively.

The worst performer of the day was Etihad Atheeb Telecommunication Co., as its share price dipped by 3.70 percent.

The positive performance on the parallel market was driven by Canadian Medical Center Co., whose share price inched up by 11.30 percent to SR6.70.

On the announcements front, National Co. for Learning and Education revealed that its net profit increased by 20.04 percent to SR31.05 million between Sept. 1 and Nov. 30, 2023, compared to the same period of the previous year.

In a Tadawul statement, the company revealed that the rise in profit was driven by a 34 percent increase in revenue, mainly due to the surge in the number of students enrolled in the company’s schools during the period.

Al Jouf Cement Co. announced that it signed a six-month contract with Rabou’ Al-Taybeh Co. to sell and export clinker at a total value of SR30 million.

The cement company, in a statement, said that the impact of the deal will be visible in the company’s financials in the first and second quarter of this year.
