Sole DXB launches new platform to uplift creatives
In light of the pandemic, The Middle East’s largest street culture festival SOLE DXB has just launched a new mixed-media platform, sole.digital, dedicated to music, fashion, the visual arts and sports from the Middle East, India, Africa, the Caribbean and their diasporas.

American rapper Kurtis Blow and Black Star’s Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey are some of the global artists who are featured on the new platform.

Fans of podcasts will certainly enjoy listening to in-depth conversations with the likes of American fashion designer and DJ Heron Preston and US radio presenter Minya Oh, known by the stage name Miss Info.

Award-winning Jamaican film actor, author and poet Sheldon R. Shepherd penned a poem titled “Dummy,” which he also narrated for the platform.

The new platform features thought-provoking essays that tackle important issues of race, colorism, sustainability and other social issues.

Music lovers will find mixes from celebrated DJs such as US-based Fly Hendrix and sister duo Mai.

Short film “Taga Rito: An Exercise Club in III Acts” by Dubai-based filmmaker Amirah Tajdin is now streaming on the website. There’s also a photo essay from photographer Maxwell Aurélien James.
