- AirAsia chief Tony Fernandes says the airliner endorsed Najib Razak ahead of Malaysia’s general election to appease the office the then prime minister who eventually lost his bid for another term.
- Fernandes refused to fire Rafidah Aziz, a former minister who was campaigning for Mahathir’s coalition, as the chairman of AirAsia X, the long-haul arm of AirAsia.
