Weddings are one of the events in a woman’s and a man’s life that can never be forgotten. It’s high in that place where the first baby is born and when your eldest graduates from high school, it’s the one event that can gather every loved one under one roof to celebrate the unity of two beautiful souls together. It’s not about how large the wedding is, it’s the intimacy and beauty of the event that is for everyone to share together.
Every bride’s dream is to have the perfect wedding best suited to her style, taste, dream, and simply an interpretation of the magical wedding they’ve always wanted. There is an abundance of wedding planners out there helping brides fulfill their wishes, but there is one event planner that goes above and beyond to fulfill that wish in the most innovative way possible. Maha Abumansour’s keen eye for details, color combinations and love for elegant events have always been her secret to success. A graduate of Dar Al-Hekma’s School of Graphic Design, this young event planner has learned the basics to her future endeavor and mixed them with her passion of bringing joy to those around her.
How did all this even start? Was it a spur of the moment idea or do you feel that you’ve always had it in you, an “inner wedding planner” itching to come alive?
I’ve loved creating a whole set up from nothing ever since I could remember, it’s the creative touch that I add to an event I plan for my friends or family that became my signature. Turning ordinary set ups to extraordinary with my extra touches and the joy I find in creating them. For me, simple details are what makes the difference, this is what Bloom is all about, and the details are what create these extraordinary designs into master pieces that please the clients.
Colors and flowers are my best friends, and here in Bloom we seek to please clients with our design combos that are both elegant and not your everyday set up, putting in place that creativity and taste matter the most to the concepts behind their ideas. When it comes to planning and executing an idea, what signifies one planner from another is their way of preparation, the thought process, the flow of ideas, the precision in organizing everything and the ability to have them all incorporated artfully.
Some planners tend to go for the over extravagant while some believe that more is better. What do you prefer?
Quality over quantity, I always believed that stuffing an event with knick knacks loses the vibe the event is counting on. In the family events that I’ve constructed, I never over stuff, in fact I tend to present very simple items and place them in sync in a way that fills the space needed in its own way. I do hunts in my hometown of Jeddah, I discover items so simple yet beautiful in quality that I’m not required to order in anything from abroad, I call them treasures and gems hidden in plain sight. It’s the quality that counts, not quantity.
After planning a number of events, it seems like you’ve established your sense of style in each wedding creating your own signature touch. How does it feel?
I was able to show my personality through the small touches I provide in every event I plan, it was a big leap for me but it was a chance I wanted to take to plan and execute someone’s special day in the best possible way I could. It’s a very rewarding and gratifying career and to bring joy and pleasure to the clients is what it’s all about. A vision turned reality with my touches here and there is worth the time and effort. While I do feel sad that someone might be copying my creations, it’s flattering in a way because you then know it was an amazing project worth catching the attention of another planner. I wish a certain copy right can be made for my ideas, be inspired but don’t copy.
Bloom Events has surely established its place in the event planning world, where do you see your company heading in the next coming years?
My plan is to expand abroad, hoping I would have created a base here in Saudi Arabia enough for me to go beyond Saudi and connect with vendors, florists and photographers that share the same vision as I do, not only to bring joy to the attendees of the events but to also be genuine in their line of profession that will provide the best they can give. It’s a lot of work and dedication but I am up for the challenge and will venture out when I am ready. I would love to head out more into the world to show the uniqueness of what we do and satisfy each client that works with us. One part of my dream has come true with Bloom Events, I hope the rest of my dream comes true in the future.
Simplicity and elegance is their motto with an extravagant finish, Maha and her team organizes four sessions with their clients in order to figure out each and every detail the bride has in mind.
“The flow of sessions is important to understand what the bride wants, what her vision is for her wedding, and the touches she wants added on her special day. We do this by order not because we don’t understand the client, instead we strive for perfection and these sessions are for us to provide the vision the bride wants for her wedding. It’s a beautiful process seeing how each bride is special on her own with special touches here and there. I also get to understand what each brides leans toward, each with a significant style of her own and I get to help out with my ideas for them,” says Maha.
When asked about the process the team follows when meeting with potential clients, it’s clear that Maha strives to provide the attention needed to cater each bride’s special day, starting from the very first time they meet.
Details are important and they’re put together piece by piece until the bride is fully satisfied, thus accomplishing the dream wedding each bride has dreamt of and more. Bloom events provide the best of the best in and out of the ordinary setting, it is what makes them stand out. And listening is key to connecting the dots, to provide the bride with the precise vision she had for her dream day. Every detail is planned, from flowers, table settings, seat covers to audio, flooring, audio and lighting, each customized according to the collage of specifications planned by the team and bride in sync. With each option, Maha and her team familiarizes the clients with the costs, vendors, and photographers after the finishing creating their customized concepts just before executing the designs.
Wedding planners are the professionals who can make certain everything happens as it should on the big day. And that’s why they are so needed. Most brides arrive at the planner’s office with a date in mind and a vendor in mind as well, it’s really important to network and build great relationships with your venues and vendors. They really set the tone for the vibe and fluidity of the wedding day.
While the primary focus is weddings, Bloom Events also plans private and special events such as baby showers, birthdays, and baby welcoming receptions.
