Istamara delivery by post

RIYADH: The Wasil service, which aims to send car registration cards by post to owners, has been launched.
“With the new service, motorists will save time since they don’t have to personally claim their new car registration cards (istamara) from the Traffic Department,” said Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Zahrani, Traffic Department director.
The new service came upon the directives of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior. To avail the service, the car owner applies for renewal of istamara through the Abshir program.
“In the first phase, the renewed istamara will be delivered to the owner by Saudi Post in Riyadh,” Al-Zahrani said. “We want to ensure that the information about the new service is disseminated to the maximum number of people,” he added.
Expats have welcomed the service. “It will save us a big hassle,” a Filipino resident said. He said it shows that the government keeps trying to introduce newer services that help citizens and residents.
