"The hospital will be built on the university campus on King Faisal Road. It is a project with an estimated cost of SR500 million," Al-Anqari said.
The project follows the signing of a number of contracts that aim to develop the academic performance of Saudi universities, as well as committing them to serve their respective communities.
President of Dammam University Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammad Al-Rubaish attended the signing ceremony.
The planned hospital, which has a 400-bed capacity, is an 11-story building that includes clinics, educational facilities, specialized and support sections, nursing units, diagnosis laboratories, operation theaters and a helipad site. The project is due to be completed within four years.
Last month, Al-Anqari also signed six contracts worth an estimated SR766 million for construction work at the universities of Jazan, Al-Baha, Taif, Tabuk and Al-Kharj, as well as Unaizah College’s campus.
There are more projects due to be signed off by the ministry this year, which will improve a number of Saudi universities. The ministry also signed contracts worth more than SR6.5 billion, which will finance the first phase of the Saudi universities' faculty housing program for staff.
Also signed were contracts for student dormitory projects at a number of universities.
Al-Anqari thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Crown Prince Sultan and Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Prince Naif for their support.
