JEDDAH: Saudi Oger Ltd. has said it will accept applications for training from 2,500 unemployed Saudi men as part of the company’s Good Companion (Rafiq Al-Khair) project.
Participants will get nine months training to help them develop skills needed for the job market. They will be given computer, technical and secretarial training, and will be offered SR1,500 each at the end of the program, said Abdul Majid Al-Jumbaz, training manager at Saudi Oger.
To qualify for participation, prospective applicants need only have a primary degree. The program has been launched by Saudi Oger Training Institute in Riyadh.
So far 150 Saudis have applied, Ahmad Al-Faraj from the institute’s registration department said, adding that only applications from the unemployed would be accepted. The nine-month program consists of courses lasting three months each. The women’s section of the program will begin in April, said Al-Faraj.
