JEDDAH, 15 December 2007 — Moroccan producer Mohammed Balhaj announced that he has completed filming a documentary on the life of Syrian-American producer and director Moustapha Akkad, the Arabic daily Al-Watan reported yesterday.
The documentary titled “Whether the Message Will Continue” focuses on some of the importance events that took place in Akkad’s lifetime. It also depicts his professional and personal life. The documentary, which will be available in both Arabic and English, will be screened in the beginning of next year.
Akkad who is best known for producing the series of “Halloween” films and directing “Mohammad, Messenger of God” and “Lion of the Desert” studied film direction and production at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and received a master’s degree from the University of Southern California (USC).
Akkad died with his 34-year-old daughter Rima Akkad Monla in the 2005 Amman bombings. They were both in staying at the Grand Hyatt hotel when a suicide bomber from the terrorist group Al-Qaeda detonated a bomb in the hotel.
