JEDDAH, 14 December 2007 — A free medical consultation will be held at the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah today for members of the Filipino community, consulate officials and organizers said.

Doctors and other health professionals will be volunteering their services in the community mission organized by the Baptist Overseas Filipino Workers, a group formed only in March.

Consultations will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., said Jacinto Sosito Jr., coordinator for group in Jeddah. “Our main objective is to provide awareness to OFWs in Jeddah regarding their health condition, that is why we will conduct free medical care and services such as eye and dental checkup and consultation, and assessment of vital signs,” he said.

Sozino said the activity is part of the celebration of OFW Month. Groups such as Al Amin Co., Daleel Teq, Pfizer and individuals who wished to remain anonymous are sponsoring the community service.

The mission is the first ever community service by Jeddah chapter of BOFW, which was organized in Riyadh in February with Virgil Nolasco as president.
