JEDDAH, 14 December 2007 — Said Al-Mouri, national champion and member of Mobily Al Faisal Racing team, did it again on Thursday when he won the Mercedes-Benz Autocross challenge after beating almost 50 other contestants.
Al-Mouri got a prize to challenge in the upcoming “ Snow Challenge” to be held in Sweden.
Al-Mouri beat experienced champion Fadi Hammada and other contestants to the title after emerging the fastest driver in 1.50 minutes followed by Hammada in 1.55 minutes and Majed Al Ghamdi in 1.60 minutes.
During the one-day event all 50 contestants competed in their own cars which were set into groups according to engines and chassis specifications and modifications.
The autocross gathered the best drivers in Saudi Arabia, among them, Prince Khalid ibn Sultan, Majed Al-Ghamdi, Said Al-Mouri, Fadi Hamada, Bandar Ghalib, Bandar Alesayi, Faisal Al-Shareef, Iyad Al-Najar, Hussain Al-Ahmadi, Mohammed Al-Shawli and Ali Asim.
The interesting part of the event was the great performance by Chenghez Khan and Bandar Ali Rida on the fabulous cars of AMG Mercedes-Benz which thrilled all spectators.
At the end of the race, Khan, marketing manager of Ibrahim Juffali and Brothers Automotive Company presented awards to the first three winners and certificates to all participants.
The first and second place winners received an invitation to Sweden to take part in the “Snow Challenge” and the third place winner got an award of SR 3000.
Safi Kobaisi, general manager of Juffali Co., said “It was a successful event and we were glad to gather such big names in the motoring sports here in Saudi Arabia which proves the success we achieved.
The reason behind holding such an event was to gather the best and at the same time to give the opportunity for the newcomers in the Saudi motor racing sport.”
