CAIRO, 27 June 2006 — Celebrated singer Sami Yusuf will sing at a show organized in honor of the retiring captain of the Egyptian Al-Ahli club, Hadi Khashba, at the Cairo International Stadium on July 20, Al-Watan reported yesterday.
Sami, considered by many to be Britain’s leading Nasheed singer, would be performing in Egypt for the first time.
Nasheeds are a popular form of music that praise Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) and glorify Allah. Typically few, if any, instruments are featured in a Nasheed and the human voice is the main feature of a Nasheed.
Egyptian singer Muhammad Foad will also sing at the occasion. Another attraction of the function will be a football match, which will be played out between a team of artists and players.
