MADINAH: Serving pilgrims is an honor and a responsibility that receives the full support of the Saudi leadership, said Prince Salman bin Sultan, the governor of Madinah and chairperson of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah in the region.
Speaking as he chaired a meeting of the committee, he emphasized the importance of early planning, stronger coordination among authorities, and enhanced operational readiness to ensure the highest standards of service for visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Other participants included Prince Saud bin Nahar, the deputy governor and vice chair of the committee; Abdulfattah bin Sulaiman Mashat, the deputy minister of Hajj and Umrah; and representatives of government departments.
The officials reviewed operational plans and sector readiness for Umrah season. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah presented seasonal indicators, statistics for Umrah visas and pilgrim arrivals, and information about key initiatives.
Madinah Municipality reviewed its preparations, including cleaning and sanitation plans, oversight of commercial activities, and the readiness of roads, tunnels and bridges.
The committee discussed several other topics and issued recommendations designed to strengthen coordination and maintain high-quality services for pilgrims and visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque.
