AL-KHOBAR: Saudi Arabia will host the 16th World Firefighters Games from Nov. 5 to 13 in Alkhobar with organizers forecasting the largest staging in the event’s history.
More than 7,000 industry professionals, athletes and delegates are expected to take part.
It is projected that 200,000 spectators and participants from over 70 countries will compete across 56 sporting disciplines, according to a recent statement by the organizers.
A Fire & Safety and Health & Wellness exhibition will also be held under the games at Dhahran Expo in Alkhobar from Nov. 6 to 8.
It will cover occupational health and safety alongside functional fitness programs, performance and recovery solutions, health technology and innovation, and nutrition and wellbeing.
Firefighter-specific training and safety initiatives will also be highlighted.
Italian Exhibition Group Arabia, a subsidiary of IEG Middle East, has been appointed to organize and deliver the expo.
Francesco Santa, CEO of IEG Middle East, said the expo would bring together brands, organizations and innovators. The focus would be on supporting firefighter performance and wellbeing, and encourage collaboration and meaningful industry connections, he added.
