DAMASCUS: Friday saw the opening of Tartous Grand Festival on the Syrian port city’s waterfront promenade.

The event brings together dozens of companies in a two-week event aimed at supporting the summer tourism season and attracting local economic activity.

Organized under the patronage of Tartous Governorate and the city council, the festival features 66 national companies offering a wide range of products including clothing, food, household goods and cleaning supplies at discount prices.

Mahmoud Al-Shami, representing the city’s administration, said the festival was an important initiative for the 2026 summer season, helping to attract visitors while supporting local businesses.

Festival organizer Mohammad Shallati said the event would run for 14 days, with exhibitors offering wholesale prices and discounts ranging from 20 to 50 percent. Visitors can also enjoy daily competitions, gifts and entertainment.

The companies taking part said the festival was an opportunity to highlight their products, strengthen direct customer engagement and expand their market reach through exclusive promotional offers.

Visitors welcomed the variety of products and competitive prices, saying the festival helped families access essential goods at lower costs while creating a lively summer atmosphere on the coast.
