3 Palestinians killed in Israeli drone strike on Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood

  • Israeli forces continued to violate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip by opening fire and targeting border areas
  • More than 1,100 Palestinians killed in enclave since ceasefire took effect last October

GAZA: Three Palestinians were killed and others wounded on Saturday  when Israeli drones struck the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City.

Medical sources reported that three bodies and several injured people were taken to Al-Ma’madani Hospital in the city after a quadcopter drone targeted a group of Palestinians near the Dawla intersection in the Zeitoun neighborhood.
Israeli forces continued to violate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip by opening fire and targeting border areas.
An Israeli drone fired directly at the Al-Zahraa School camp, which shelters displaced people in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood east of Gaza City, wounding one Palestinian.
In the northern Gaza Strip and the central governorate, Israeli military vehicles stationed north of Beit Lahia fired flares into the sky, while vehicles stationed near the pharmaceutical factory at the so-called “yellow line” east of Deir Al-Balah opened fire with machine guns toward eastern areas before resuming fire from the same location. No injuries were reported.
A ceasefire remains in place between Israel and Hamas, but it has not halted violence in Gaza, and efforts to secure a lasting agreement to end the war have stalled. Gaza’s civil defense agency and a hospital said an Israeli airstrike on Friday killed eight people near a market.
“Eight people were killed after Israeli warplanes struck a gathering of civilians in the Al-Balata market area of the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza,” the civil defense agency reported.
The area’s Al-Awda Hospital said it received the eight dead and 22 people wounded in the strike.
Mahmoud Bassal, spokesman for the civil defense agency, said the strike occurred during a funeral procession.
The civil defense agency and hospitals reported that five other people were killed in separate Israeli strikes on Friday. They included two women and the man whose funeral was taking place when the market strike occurred.
Before Friday’s casualties, at least 1,127 Palestinians had been killed since the truce took effect last October, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
Restrictions imposed on media outlets and limited access in Gaza prevent AFP from independently verifying tolls or freely covering the violence there.
