LONDON: Jordan sent on Thursday an aid convoy of 26 trucks carrying food, medical supplies and relief items to support the Lebanese people trapped in the Israel-Hezbollah conflict.
The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization has sent its tenth shipment in collaboration with the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the Jordan News Agency.
Secretary-General Hussein Al-Shibli announced that the total number of trucks sent by the JHCO to Lebanon had reached 197 since March, including hygiene items, tents, and two mobile bakeries.
Since late 2023, Israel and Hezbollah, backed by Iran, have been engaged in skirmishes and attacks. The conflict escalated in March when the US and Israel launched a war against Iran, prompting Hezbollah to fire rockets into northern Israel.
At least one million Lebanese were displaced, primarily from villages in southern Lebanon where Israeli forces control 55 towns, or from neighborhoods in Beirut and other cities that Israel repeatedly bombed to target Hezbollah.
Lebanese and Israeli officials have conducted several mediated talks by the US to reach a ceasefire agreement, which includes an Israeli withdrawal, the deployment of the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon, and the disarmament of Hezbollah.
