BURAIDAH: The Blood Banks Friends Charity, otherwise known as Damy, launched World Blood Donor Day activities on Sunday at its centers in the Kingdom.
The initiative aims to raise community awareness of blood donation and encourage regular donations to meet blood bank needs.
Activities included blood donation campaigns, free medical checkups, and awareness booths. A main event was held at the charity’s headquarters in Buraidah, with the participation of several entities.
The charity emphasized that every blood donation helps save lives and called on community members to support this humanitarian mission.
Observed annually on June 14, the day raises awareness of the importance of blood donation and honors donors who help save lives.
Celebrated worldwide since its designation by the World Health Assembly in 2005, it helps improve the lives of patients who depend on blood transfusions and supports a safe blood supply.
