MADINAH: The date market in Madinah is seeing increased activity with the start of the rutab season and early harvests from farms in Wadi Al-Safra and nearby western villages.
Several rutab varieties have begun arriving, with supplies expected to rise in the coming days, according to a report.
Different date varieties are being supplied to the central market and auction yard, while buyers await the Rotana rutab harvest, expected in higher volumes by the end of June.
Rotana is the most popular rutab variety in Madinah, known for its medium size, soft texture, and moderate sweetness. It leads sales toward the end of the season, which continues until August.
Farmers are monitoring full ripening by late June to ensure quality and supply.
Harvesting and sales will then begin, either directly from farms or through packaged boxes for local and export markets, amid strong demand inside and outside the region.
