RIYADH: Tabuk’s Growth Cultural Cafe hosted a program to develop storytelling for video game production, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

The event, held in partnership with the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, aimed to enable those interested to explore the fields of interactive narrative and digital content creation.

It comes at a time when electronic video games are fast becoming one of the most influential forms of media in modern life, according to the SPA.

The event was attended by a number of people interested in literature, the video games industry and digital content.

The program included sessions focusing on the basics of storytelling for games, the mechanisms of character building and the design of narrative worlds.

Other themes covered the development of interactive stories allowing players to influence the turn of events.

Participants were shown the different stages of developing a literary idea into a playable digital experience.

This included integrating traditional narrative elements with visual, audio and interactive tools to develop more in-depth and engaging experiences for users.

There were also a number of practical workshops that invited people to develop their ideas and turn them into prototypes for interactive stories and games.

They were also invited to learn about the latest practices and trends in the fields of digital narrative and interactive experience design.

The Growth Cultural Cafe in the northern city of Tabuk is a partner of Saudi Arabia’s Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission. It hosts regular events aimed at fostering the local literary scene.
