RIYADH: The Saudi leadership congratulated the minister of interior, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, on Tuesday for the successful organization of Hajj season, which concluded last week.
King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman each sent a message to the prince in which they thanked security and civil agencies for their efforts to ensure 1,707,301 pilgrims could perform the annual pilgrimage with comfort, ease and reassurance.
Prince Abdulaziz chairs the Supreme Hajj Committee that oversees the security, organizational and service plans required to accommodate pilgrims during Hajj.
Through their efforts, authorities had had helped ensure Hajj could take place in an atmosphere of spirituality, tranquility, security and faith, despite challenging conditions in the region, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. Every Muslim who is physically able to do so is required to undertake the pilgrimage to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah at least once in their life.
