The operation was carried out by the project’s second special tasks team in Bab Al-Mandab in western Yemen, within the framework of continued efforts to rid Yemeni territory of landmines, improvised explosive devices and other war remnants that pose a serious threat to civilian lives.
The destroyed items included 139 assorted shells, 3,200 detonators, 2,536 rounds of ammunition, 36 anti-personnel mines, 58 anti-tank mines, eight hand grenades, nine rockets, seven improvised explosive devices and 18 projectile components.
Adeeb Rajab, the special tasks team’s commander, said the team responds around the clock to reports from citizens and local authorities to mitigate the risks posed by explosive remnants scattered across affected areas.
He added that the items were secured and later disposed of as part of the project’s periodic destruction operations.
The Masam Project continues its humanitarian work across several liberated Yemeni governorates, clearing mines and explosive remnants of war and responding to emergency reports to safeguard civilians and secure impacted communities.
