Walking Hour initiative to take place in Al-Baha Tuesday

A public health initiative called the “Walking Hour” will be held on Tuesday in Al-Baha under the patronage of Prince Hossam bin Saud, governor of the region.

The event will take place under the supervision of the branch of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sports in the region, with the participation of a number of government agencies.

The event aims to promote the culture of physical activity and spread awareness of the importance of walking as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Studies have shown that regular walking contributes to the prevention of chronic disease and improving quality of life.

The Walking Hour event is part of broader efforts to improve community health in Saudi Arabia’s various regions.

Walking Hour will be held in public spaces around the city on paths that have been specially prepared with health and safety measures provided.

Authorities such as the Al-Baha Health Cluster, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority and the Municipality of Al-Baha region have ensured that these areas have provisions to ensure the safety and support of participants.

Bandar Al-Ghamdi, director of the Ministry of Sports branch in Al-Baha region, confirmed to the Saudi Press Agency that the event comes under the direct guidance of the region’s governor.

It is part of the programs and initiatives aimed at raising the rates of physical activity and motivating members of the community to adopt healthier lifestyles, he added.
