MORONI: The Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition, in partnership with the UN Counter-Terrorism Centre, concluded a five-day legal training program in Moroni, Comoros, to strengthen member states’ capacity to combat terrorist financing and money laundering.
The program brought together 30 specialists from the financial, regulatory, and military sectors to enhance their ability to detect, investigate, and disrupt terror financing in line with international standards.
Combining theory with practical application, the curriculum improved participants’ readiness and helped localize expertise within national institutions, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.
This collaboration underscores the Saudi-backed coalition’s commitment to strengthening institutional defenses against terrorism-related financial crimes, the SPA stated.
The coalition also hosted its “Tawasul” media initiative in Comoros to support content development for member states’ institutions.
Fatima Ahamada, Comoros minister of gender promotion, solidarity and information and government spokesperson, praised the coalition’s efforts in combating terrorism and extremism, particularly in the media field.
She highlighted the importance of the “Tawasul” initiative in supporting national media institutions to counter terrorist propaganda and extremist narratives targeting youth.
The initiative aims to produce diverse media content, including films, dramas, and documentaries, to address terrorist activities, unify messaging, and promote moderation and tolerance.
