DUBAI: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi welcomed the decision issued by the cabinet of Lebanon in a statement on Friday.
The Lebanese cabinet requested the army and security forces to immediately begin enhancing the extension of full state control over Beirut and to restrict weapons therein to the legitimate forces alone.
“This decision represents a significant step toward consolidating the sovereignty of the Lebanese state and bolstering its legitimate institutions, thereby leading to the maintenance of security and stability and protecting the safety of citizens and residents,” Albudaiwi stated.
He said the GCC's steadfast position in support of the sovereignty, security, stability, and territorial integrity of Lebanon, aiming to achieve the aspirations of the Lebanese people for security, stability, and development.
