LONDON: The foreign ministers of Qatar and Kuwait met in Doha on Sunday to discuss the military escalation in the region amid Iranian attacks on several Gulf nations.
Qatar’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and Kuwait’s Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah discussed ways to resolve the disputes peacefully, the Qatar News Agency reported.
Sheikh Mohammed condemned Iran’s attacks on Kuwait and expressed Doha’s solidarity with Kuwait and support for all measures taken to preserve its sovereignty and security.
He stressed the need for Iran to end its unjustified attacks on Qatar and other countries in the region and warned of the dangers of targeting vital infrastructure related to water, food and energy.
He also called for reason and wisdom in managing the crisis and a return to negotiations to ensure global energy security, freedom of navigation, environmental safety and regional stability, the report said.
