RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has condemned a drone strike by Rapid Support Forces on a hospital in Sudan’s White Nile State, which left at least 10 people dead and injured, including medical staff.
In a statement on Saturday carried by the Saudi Press Agency, the Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the targeting of the facility in the city of Al-Jabalain, describing the incident as a “reprehensible act” that cannot be justified under any circumstances.
The ministry said the attack constituted a “flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law,” as well as a breach of fundamental principles.
Saudi Arabia called for an immediate halt to such violations and urged all parties to comply with the Jeddah Declaration, signed on May 11, 2023, which commits to the protection of civilians in Sudan.
The Kingdom also reaffirmed its long-standing position in support of Sudan’s unity and its legitimate institutions, stressing that this remains essential to achieving security, stability, and the aspirations of the Sudanese people.
