DAR ES SALAAM: The 34th International Holy Qur’an Competition was launched in the Tanzanian city of Dar es Salaam.

The event is organized by the National Muslim Council of Tanzania, with support and sponsorship from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, and brings together participants from 26 countries.

The ministry said the competition aims to encourage memorization of the Holy Qur’an and mastery of its recitation.

It also seeks to identify and nurture talent in Qur’an memorization and recitation at the international level.

It also seeks to promote true Islamic values and reinforce the principles of moderation and balance, while highlighting the role of the Kingdom and other supporting countries in serving the Holy Qur’an worldwide.

The closing ceremony will be held on April 5.
