RIYADH: Al-Amad, a startup within the portfolio of Wadi Makkah Co. for Technology, the investment arm of Umm Al-Qura University, introduced an advanced technological innovation called Pathway of the Holy Sites, an AI-powered smart mobility platform aimed at enhancing the efficiency of pilgrims’ movement between the holy sites and improving the overall Hajj experience through integrated smart solutions.
The innovation is part of a developing smart mobility system that utilizes data analytics and real-time crowd management technologies, thereby reducing congestion, improving traffic flow, and raising safety levels during the Hajj season.
It relies on advanced digital systems powered by artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, enabling efficient monitoring and guidance of crowd flows, as well as providing predictive solutions that equip decision-makers with accurate indicators to help regulate movement during peak times.
The solution integrates augmented reality technologies through an interactive training program that allows pilgrims and Umrah performers to experience the holy sites virtually before arrival, helping them familiarize themselves with routes and perform rituals with confidence and reassurance.
This helps reduce confusion and improve pilgrim preparedness.
The impact of this technology also extends to personnel serving pilgrims, as it provides a realistic simulation training environment for handling emergencies such as heat stress and other potential risks, and enhances response speed and coordination with emergency teams.
