UN peacekeepers injured in ‘incident’ in south Lebanon: UNIFIL spokesperson

  • 6 Israeli troops have been killed since Israel invaded Lebanon

JERUSALEM: UN peacekeepers in south Lebanon were wounded in an “incident” near the Lebanese-Israeli border, a spokesperson for the force said Monday, without specifying the nature of the incident.
“There has been an incident involving peacekeepers near Bani Hayyan, and we have injuries,” Kandice Ardiel told AFP, a day after an Indonesian peacekeeper was killed by a projectile of unknown origin that struck a UN position.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military on Monday said a soldier was killed a day earlier in combat in southern Lebanon, bringing to six the number of troops killed since fighting with Hezbollah started earlier in March.
“Sergeant Liran Ben Zion, aged 19, from Holon... fell during combat in southern Lebanon,” the military said.
