JEDDAH: The Music Commission concluded the “Spotlight —Under the Light” event at Hayy Jameel in Jeddah, part of an initiative to present Saudi musical talent to local and international audiences and provide a platform for emerging artists.
This was the third consecutive year of the “Spotlight” initiative, following previous editions held in cities including London, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, and Riyadh.
The initiative is expanding its reach and aims to present Saudi music within a broader cultural landscape, according to a Saudi Press Agency report.
The initiative highlights emerging Saudi artists and gives them opportunities to present their work to wider audiences, helping expand the visibility of Saudi music across cultural platforms.
It also focuses on discovering and supporting local talent by offering platforms for artists to present their work locally and internationally, contributing to the growth of the Kingdom’s music sector, promoting diversity in the local scene, and encouraging collaboration with global music communities.
The event featured a series of live performances by Saudi artists and musicians, highlighting the diversity of the Kingdom’s music scene and reflecting the richness of artistic expression across the sector.
The initiative is part of the commission’s broader efforts to develop the music sector, support creative talent, and strengthen the presence of Saudi music regionally and internationally, in line with Vision 2030’s cultural and creative economy goals.
Last month, the commission organized the Music Intelligence Quotient workshop as part of its Music Compass program to develop and support the Kingdom’s music industry.
Through these initiatives, the commission aims to strengthen local talent in line with international best practices, supporting the sector’s sustainability and improving its competitiveness locally and globally.
Music Compass program focuses on developing Saudi professionals and supporting the role of the music sector within the Kingdom’s creative economy, the SPA reported.
As one of the commission’s key strategic programs, it works to empower artist management entities and enhance the capabilities of industry professionals.
The training covered several key topics, including the institutional framework for artist management, building artistic identity and personal branding, managing rights and contractual obligations, understanding the economic structure of the music sector, and examining global models in talent management.
