RIYADH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman welcomed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Jeddah on Saturday, where they discussed regional developments and escalating tensions in the Middle East.
At the start of the meeting, the two leaders exchanged greetings on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, expressing hopes for continued prosperity and progress for their countries and the wider Islamic world, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Talks focused on the repercussions of ongoing military escalation in the region and its impact on regional and global security, with both sides reviewing efforts to coordinate responses, SPA added.
During the meeting, the leaders stressed that repeated Iranian attacks targeting Gulf Cooperation Council countries, including vital and civilian infrastructure, represent a serious escalation and pose a threat to regional stability.
El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s condemnation of such attacks and affirmed Cairo’s support and solidarity with Saudi Arabia in the face of threats to its sovereignty and security.
The meeting was attended by senior Saudi and Egyptian officials, including ministers, intelligence chiefs, and ambassadors from both countries.
El-Sisi left Jeddah later the same day and was seen off by Prince Mohammed, SPA reported.
